Oban and the surrounding area host a variety of festivals and events each year. From the famous Highland Games to the West Highland Yachting Week, from The Winter Festival to the Highlands and Islands Music and Dance Festival and the Festival of the Sea. Oban also boasts its own cinema, formerly the Phoenix now the Highland Theatre. Get the latest cinema programmes. Every May, Easdale becomes the centre for small boat cruising in Scotland. Easdale RIB Rendezvous is a RIB adventure weekend on the glorious West Coast of Scotland, one of the most stunning areas in the UK for boaters due to the fantastic scenery, myriad islands, pristine waters and amazing wildlife. RIBers from all over the UK meet on Easdale

The Highland and Islands Music and Dance Festival is also held each May in Oban and competitors travel from all over Scotland to take part. And in June each year the Oban Provincial Mod brings even more Gaelic performers to the town.

Oban is the seafood capital of Scotland. Not surprisingly, there are regular food events throughout the area and several Argyll's finest food producers are based in Oban and Lorn. New in 2013 will be an Octoberfest to take place early in October. So if you can't make it to Munich, come to Oban – it’s closer for your drink!

Every other Thursday from March to December the LORN Community Producers Market takes place in Benderloch with wonderful opportunities to buy locally produced food and crafts.

At the beginning of June the town holds the annual 'Charities Day' where local charities set up stalls with all sorts of fund raising ideas! The Oban Pipe Band play and there is a very festive atmosphere.
